Their siblings and even their mama went home weeks ago.. they are still waiting for the perfect people to come along.

Apply for these perfect kittens at hermioneshome.com under “adopt”.

🤍 Happy Adoption Day, Sundae. 🤍
When Sundae arrived in July, she was sick, pregnant, and broken in ways we could only begin to imagine. She needed more than a safe place to land. She needed time, patience, and a reason to trust again.

We had the privilege of witnessing one of the most beautiful journeys. We watched her bring her kittens into the world, nurture them with all the love she had, and slowly begin to open her heart to humans. Day by day, we saw a little more of the sweet soul hiding behind her fear.

Fostering Sundae has been a reminder that healing takes time, love can change everything, and sometimes the most broken hearts just need someone willing to show up for them.

Today, we say goodbye with full hearts and happy tears, knowing that her next chapter will be filled with the very things she always deserved: safety, kindness, comfort, and a lifetime of love.

Happy Life, Sundae! We love you.

Intake announcement - time to protect my peace.

We are a small rescue of about 3-4 foster homes at a given time. We have saved approximately 500 cats in the last 5 years. As the founder, and doer of all things admin plus fostering as well, I am burnt out. The cats aren’t even what have driven me to the point of burn out. It’s the people. I’ve met some amazing people along the way (even my best friend!) but I have also seen the absolute worst in some people. (Most) Rescuers don’t quit because the cats are too draining, it’s the people we encounter on a daily basis. The countless emails we receive putting their responsibilities on our shoulders and guilting us when we cannot stretch ourselves to a sliver. The calls we receive from unknown numbers when we never approved of our private lines being shared. The tags from well meaning people on heartbreakingly sad posts on socials begging for help. It is all a lot to carry.

Emotionally spent, financially spent (and then some-spent $2,400+ at the vet this week alone), and needing a break. Therefore, intake is going to be VERY limited for the foreseeable future. Our incredible foster homes want to keep going, so we will keep our efforts going for them.

However, I am stepping back and taking a break from fostering the large number I do. I am asking that people please refrain from tagging us in sad pleas for help.. I am trying very hard to protect my peace these days and already feel insanely guilty for stepping back when there are so many precious lives that need help. I am not going anywhere forever. We will reopen to more eventually.. I just need some time to breathe, focus on my own cats, and my family.

As always, thank you so incredibly much to everyone who has supported my efforts over the years. It means more to me than you’ll ever know.

HAPPY ADOPTION DAY TO MOOSE TRACKS & NIA! 🩵🩷

They were such a pleasure, and quite entertaining, to foster.

They have a wonderful dad who is so excited to have some love & noise in his new home. I asked him multiple times if he’s sure he’s up for their level of chaos. 😂

From kittens we weren’t sure would even make it to birth to perfect, happy 9 week olds, it’s been a pleasure to watch them grow and learn.

Happy Life, babies! We love you.

Shouting HAPPY BIRTHDAY from the roof tops to kitten foster extraordinaire, @alicia6397. I cannot even put into words how much I appreciate having you in my life. Not only as a foster for @hermioneshome but as a best friend. You are one of the strongest, best people I know.

Everyone send our girl some love on her special day!! If you’ve adopted a kitty from the Hanson’s foster room, please share some photos in the comments to brighten her day 💗💗

Everyone keeps asking so here we go! Applications for these orange babies are now open! They see our vet next week and then will be able to go home after that. The two buff boys, Phantom & Casper will be adopted out as a pair.. Candy corn, the darker orange baby can be adopted as a single, but we are hoping to find him a home with someone who has another young cat! If interested, please submit an application at hermioneshome.com under "adopt".

This sweet little mama is DONE with babies. She will never have to put herself second again. She is happy, healthy, and ready for her forever home. This is Pumpkin. Pumpkin gave birth to 4 ginger babies outside and kept them safe and well nourished for 5.5 weeks until they found their way here. She has now cut the cord (stopped nursing them lol) and really would love to find her very own home where she can have some well deserved quiet, alone time. Pumpkin is about 1 year old, she will see our vet next week for her exam as well as vaccines. We will then set up her spay date. We are hopeful to find a home for this girl asap, as she is very much so over her kittens lol. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to adopt this sweet baby! Today we celebrate Sundae’s Scoops turning 7 weeks old.

I look at these little faces and I can’t help but think: miracles do happen.

These babies weren’t supposed to be here.

They survived a scheduled spay-abort only because their mama was found to have a heart murmur. They survived in utero, growing inside a mama who was incredibly sick and severely malnourished—a mama whose body was struggling just to survive.

They survived her hospitalization, including IV medications and treatments when we couldn’t even be certain how she would respond or whether she would be okay.

And somehow, through all of it, these tiny babies kept fighting.

Every bottle, sleepless night and intervention those first few weeks was worth it. Seven weeks later, here they are—growing, playing, wrestling, purring, and completely unaware of just how extraordinary their journey has been.

Happy 7 weeks little miracles. We are so glad you are here. 💕

Say hello to two of our available for adoption kittens!

Meet Cheesecake (black) & Pudding (gray & white)! These 3 month old brothers are ready for their happy forever! They were found alone on the streets in NYC, very skinny and missing lots of fur. They came to us around 1 pound and have since thrived into healthy perfect kittens!

They love to chase each other around and play with their toys. They also have loud beautiful purrs. they LOVE to be pet once they realize you’re cool.

These boys are perfect all around kittens. They love to eat, play, snuggle, and sleep it off just to repeat it all again.

They are FeLV/FIV/HW negative, have received their first vaccines and are scheduled for neuter once they are of age.

FOSTER HOME NEEDED for one ridiculously cute little family! Mama and her 4 ~6 week old babies. Babies are still nursing but also eating wet food and are already using the litter box!

This sweet mama and her four fluffy babies were found living outside in East Hartford. They’re safe with us now in our temporary space, but these babies are growing fast and deserve a real home environment where they can run, play, explore, and develop into the tiny troublemakers they’re destined to be.

Everyone is friendly, Mama is an absolute LOVE, and the babies are SO. FLUFFY. Seriously, look at them.

We provide all veterinary care and supplies — you provide the safe space and love.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering, this is a pretty adorable way to start. Please message us if you can give this little family a temporary home.

Must be willing to drive to vet appointments in Prospect, CT.

Sundae has already fought so hard. Now we need your help making sure her heart is strong enough for her next chapter.

For those of you who are new here after following Ethel’s story, welcome! We’d love to introduce you to another very special girl.

Sundae came to us very pregnant and critically ill. She spent three days hospitalized, and our priority was simply saving her life. Somehow, this incredible girl not only recovered like a champion, but all four of her babies survived too.

Sundae has been perfectly caring for her babies and now it’s time for us to take care of her

We knew when we took Sundae in that she had a significant heart murmur. Once her babies are 6 weeks old, she needs to see a cardiologist and have an echocardiogram before she can safely be put under anesthesia to be spayed.

The cardiology consult is $310 and the echo is $800, for a total of $1,110 that we need to raise by 9/29.

And we have amazing news: a very generous supporter (@music_is_my_oxygen999) has offered to match every donation dollar for dollar, up to $1,000.

That means $10 becomes $20. $25 becomes $50. $50 becomes $100. $1,000 becomes $2,000!

Sundae survived being critically ill while pregnant. She kept four tiny babies alive. She raised them safely. And now she already has two applications from people hoping to give her a forever home.

Her happily-ever-after is waiting for her. We just need to make sure her heart is ready for it.

If you can donate even $5 or $10, it will be doubled. If you can’t donate, sharing her story helps more than you know.

❤️ WHERE ARE THEY NOW? — EMMY ❤️

Do you guys remember our Emmy?? If not, let me remind you!

Emmy’s story almost ended before it really began.#
We took her in from the NYC ACC in the late stages of her pregnancy, hoping to give her a safe place to have her babies. Instead, Emmy suffered a uterine rupture. She lost her kittens and nearly lost her own life.
After time in the hospital, Emmy came home to her foster mom with a grim prognosis and needed close monitoring. But Emmy had other plans.
She shocked us all. She fought, she healed, and she THRIVED. 🥹❤️
And now, look at her.

Her adopters tell us:
“Emmy loves supervising activities, snuggles and finding things to climb on. She adores hanging out with her teenagers and finding all the good spots to nap. She loves a good play session of chasing toys and hide and seek.”

And when we asked how they feel about their girl, they said:
“We are so happy to have Emmy! She is a super snuggler. She’s a cute, mischievous girl! She gets her wants and needs known by telling you with meows, pawing you or sitting on you. Some of our favorite things about Emmy are her big eyes, her soft fur and her intense facial expressions. She is a buddy and confidant. We are so thrilled she’s part of our home!”

From a cat fighting for her life to a beloved family member who has teenagers to hang out with, toys to chase, places to climb, and laps to snuggle in.

This is why we rescue. This is why we fight for them. This is why we never give up. ❤️🐾

Just look at our girl now. Emmy, you made it. 🥹

ABOUT HERMIONE'S HOME

Established in 2021, Hermione's Home is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.

At Hermione's Home we believe that every cat deserves a fighting chance. We put all of our efforts into finding homes and providing medical care for abandoned, unwanted, homeless cats. We are able to do this because of our amazing supporters and our incredible foster homes.

The founder of Hermione's Home, Ashley Knapik, has been involved in cat rescue since 2014. After the loss of her beloved tortie, Hermione, she fostered and found homes for many cats with the support of various rescues. In 2021, in the midst of pursuing her MBA, Ashley decided it was time to make a bigger impact by opening her own foster-based rescue, in the name of her best friend, Hermione.
